Winter Adaptogen Latte ☕️
Another day, another 10 centimetres of snow. But hey, Valentine's Day is coming, so it's the perfect opportunity to give our insides some love with a warm, frothy, adaptogen latte. Whipping up this lux-latte is surprisingly easy: just put all of the ingredients in at once, heat, blend, et viola! You're warming up, feeding your cells, and watching the snow fall ❄️
This recipe takes almost no time to make, and tastes like such a treat, especially on a snow day. We used some superfood products we had on hand to craft this recipe, but they can easily be substituted based on what's accessible to you or what's in your cupboards right now. Here's a little scoop on some of the key ingredients:
Ashwagandha Root can help to reduce inflammation and provide stress relief, while Maca Root is rich in vitamins and antioxidants, and known to help regulate hormones. Dark Red Cocoa Powder is rich in iron, fibre, and protein.
The SOMA Elixir by Anima Mundi Herbals contains Reishi, Chaga, Maitake, Shiitake, Lions Mane, Agaricus, Schizandra Berry, Rose Petals, and Rose Geranium, so it's a powerful immune regulator and anti-microbial adaptogen. If you can't find this particular Elixir, you can substitute with just Reishi, Chaga, or Lions Mane powders.
You can always use regular honey, buckwheat honey, or maple syrup as a sweetener, but Drizzle's Winter Spiced Honey is *so good* It contains warming cloves and anti-inflammatory cinnamon, so it's perfect in this latte.
Ghee is the perfect way to add richness to a dairy-free latte, and is rich in vitamins D, E, A, and K2. Plus, Ghee contains Conjugated Linoleic Acid, and inflammation-reducing micronutrient. Learn more about Lee's Provisions' Ghee here.
Cashew Mylk is a such a good dairy substitute. It's super creamy, and rich in protein and vitamins E, K, and B6! We made our own by blending 1 cup of cashews (soaked overnight!) with 3 cups of filtered water (so easy!). You could use any non-dairy milk in this recipe - try hemp or coconut
1/2 tsp ashwaganda root powder
1/2 tsp maca root powder
1 tsp soma mushroom elixir
1 tsp dark red cocoa powder
1 tsp drizzle spiced honey (you can substitute regular honey/maple syrup/your sweetener of choice + a dash each of cinnamon/nutmeg/cloves)
1/2 c brewed coffee
1/2 c cashew mylk (we made ours at home, but you can use any non-dairy milk that you love. Try hemp or coconut milk!)
1. in a small saucepan, bring ingredients to a slow simmer
2. transfer to a blender, blend until frothy
3. pour into a warm mug. top with cinnamon and/or cocoa powder
